Huckabee Receives Standing Ovation

Bookmark and Share

Mike Huckabee presents a short speech on October 5 to the Americans for Prosperity "Defending the American Dream Summit". I usually try not to just copy posts from the Huckabee blog, but I loved this speech. Mike Huckabee just gets it.

In his story about the machine shop worker trying to get his daughter through grad school I was reminded of Ronald Reagan’s fiscal conservativism.

Yes, indeed. It’s just common sense. We have a system in place that literally rewards people who don’t work and punishes those who wish to succeed. It is so counter intuitive.
For those who didn’t watch the whole thing, the story is basically a guy who has a daughter in grad school at Cornell. The cost is, um, not cheap. He gets another job in order to help pay, but finds himself in the next tax bracket so each additional hour of work actually yields less than what came prior. That is insane in itself. Whats worse is the accurate portrayal that if he just quit both jobs and lost his income, he would then probably qualify for some handout or no interest loan for his daughter.
The system is backwards and needs to be fixed. I say again…Huckabee just gets it!

I was there when Huckabee spoke at the AFP Summit. He did a great job. My 19-year-old daughter, who I wasn’t sure just how closely she was listening to the speakers, made clear that he impressed her. She’s savy, and I heard that from so many attendees that is is clear that Huckabee stands out. Huckabee gets it, and conservatives get Huckabee!

    Thanks for the update Peggy!
While time is getting short, the more organizations that Huckabee can put himself in front of the better. You and your daughter are not alone in seeing how he stands out after seeing him in person. The burden is on all of us to make sure our friends and family understand that Mike is truly the best candidate in this race. We are the traction, we are the momentum, we are his chance at victory.
    Cheers!
