A “Rant” For Huckabee
(I posted the following message on a blog where people were insisting that we (the GOP) need a moderate in order to win the Presidency.)
Allow me this rant.
The GOP is disorganized, fractionalized, and sadly no longer the party of bold ideas. The GOP has been the party of "big government" during the Bush administration and that is a leading cause for the "I don't cares" amongst Republican activists. I have left politics as a career because I am embarrassed to call myself a Republican along side this crop of "Republicans". It makes me look like a hypocrite to say I support less government and lower taxes when the GOP has been responsible for more non-defense related pork than the Democrats could have dreamed of during the Clinton years.
I am fed up with moderation. In real terms, moderation has meant becoming a Democrat while the Democrats have basically become Socialist.
When Republicans run on a conservative message, we win. I know it isn't 1994 anymore, but why should I be forced to settle for a candidate I disagree with just for the sake of winning? What have I won? Are we Republicans just going to lie down and concede liberal ideology because at least then we're in charge? That's as laughable as it is frightening!
I have found a candidate that believes what I believe and articulates it very well. That's Mike Huckabee. If everyone who said they like him "but he can't win" would vote for him, then guess what? He would win!The "strategery" needs to stop. The purpose of a primary is to vote for whom you like, not for whom you think everyone else likes. This isn't high school anymore. You have free thought. Exercise it! If you really like a different candidate, that's fine. Vote for them. But if you like Huckabee and are only staying away because "he can't win" then get off your butt and do the work necessary to help him win! Trust me, you'll feel better that you did.

Preach on, brotha, preach on!
I have the same frustrations around the blogs. You don’t seem to need the help, but if you ever want someone in the foxhole with you, shoot me an email. I’m usually more than happy to oblige.
Cheers man! I am so new to blogging and it is as addicting as it is frusterating trying to “convert” the world!
I’m having a hard time telling the kooks from the people who are just mistaken and open to a discussion. That can lead to many hours of banging my head against the wall.
Awesome Post, Christian! You said that so very well!
Thanks Lisa!
Sometimes you’ve just gotta let it flow…
Thanks, Christian. I’ll be using your message (with credit) in my e-mails to friends, family, colleagues, etc. to encourage them to do the right thing. This race has started ridiculously early, but this should give Gov. Huckabee a couple of advantages. One, Romney & Guiliani will have time to bash each other so everyone is looking for a fresh candidate; and two, time is on our side even if the money isn’t … yet. Keep the faith!
Thanks Brian, you’re welcome to use anything I post. Check out my “Why I Like Mike” page. I’ve received some nice feedback on it and perhaps it presents Mike in a more positive light to people than the “rant” included here.
You’ve got one thing right, keep mailing everyone you know! Cheers!
Amen, Amen! Let’s do whatever we can to get this message out to the Republican pundits like Sean Hannity and National Review Online!
