FreedomWorks Sees the Light?

FreedomWorks, formerly Citizens for a Sound Economy, has long been an advocate for the Flat Tax.  With Steve Forbes on the board of directors, and Dick Armey as the organization's Chairman, this should come as no surprise.  It states clearly on their website:

"We want to scrap our confusing, unfair tax code and replace it with a simple flat tax of one low rate with no deductions or special interest loopholes."

What did come as a surprise though was what was found at the end of an online Presidential Primary poll that FreedomWorks is sponsoring right now at  http://www.freedomworks.org/strawpoll.  (I would encourage all of my readers to go and vote for Mike Huckabee!)  At the end of this poll, they ask what the most important issues to the poll voters are.  The top choice?

"Flat Tax / Fair Tax"

Hmmm.  Is FreedomWorks actually admitting that the FairTax exists?!  Are they admitting that perhaps some people (some slightly more educated people!) may wish to express their support of the FairTax over the Flat Tax?  It just seems odd that a group so focused on one agenda item would be willing to accept the existence of "the enemy plan". 

Perhaps they are seeing the light?  Let's all write them and find out.
